The energy sector looks for new cyber talents to ensure a secure world

Next November 6, 2017, in Vienna, it willl take place a seminar under the heading WOMEN’S CYBER FORUM 2017, organized by the Energypact Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Vienna, whose mission is to promote the balanced use of energy sources with the objective of reconciling innovation, economic development and the protection of the environment. EnergyPact Foundation has increasingly focused on cyber security for the energy sector.

This seminar is designed for young professional women and also men with an interest in cyber security issues, already engaged or considering careers in cyber security, including university students and faculty, industry professionals, members of the government, and professional organizations.

The objective is to build a forum for information sharing, networking and mentoring: to raise awareness about the relevance of cyber security as a career. As a matter of fact, Forbes reported in past 2016 that there were over one million cyber security jobs in the international arena and that more than 209,000 cybersecurity jobs in the USA were unfilled in the same year 2016. In present year 2017, 350,000 jobs are still unfilled, following CyberSeek, a project of the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), under the umbrella of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the USA. The
tendency is strongly rising, to 6 million globally till 2019 following Symantec. In the same strand, USA News and World Report (an American media company launched in 1948 that publishes news, opinion, consumer advice, rankings, and analysis) claim that the profession is growing at a rate of 36.5% through 2022.
